Pedaling on

Last night was spent @ a different location on Beaverhead. As I drove up the road below my preferred spot I spied a camper silhouette breaking the sky line near where I park. Bummer. Passed on turning in here moving further to next off road. This one had 2 cars blocking the first wash crossing right off the highway. Continued on to 3rd road and turned in. Steered a delicate course straddling the wheel ruts. Pulled off @ corral. Full on sun exposure, sun going below the skyline about an hour away. Site was pretty level. Sites further up the road required a better off road rig than the sprinter. Temp hit 88 degrees and it was hot. Temp dropped enough to sleep under the single down blanket.

So, yesterday was very warm. I made it a rest day by plan. Did my wash, visited Dave @ Fat Tire, then down to BnB b4 heading out to desert. Just a normal way to spend my day visiting w/ folks. Every person is an audience to perform for but they do not know it. release laughter in people. A smile, a chuckle, a thought provoking question. People are so much fun.

Called Danny last night for bfast @ Wildflower in uptown, Danny’s ritual.

Shared bfast w/ Danny while listening to his women stories, names and stories so plentiful that none make it into short term recall.

Then down to BnB for my road ride. Today i am going to nail the unmarked route over to bridge crossing oak Creek then maybe return the same. Old age spunk said push on to ride a loop thru west sedona then down bike path on rt-179 back to VOC. Grunter climb out of Oak creek on Upper Red rock loop rd. 58 mins to high school on 89A then 41 mins to VOC. Score. Head wind while riding down hwt 179. Nice paved bike lane all way down. Off ramps @ traffic rotaries, cross a marked pedestrian crossings, then back onto pavement. Tomorrow I might ride it again and search for a ride stretcher.

This Thurs is next ortho DR visit. Today marks 8 weeks since break.

Hung @ BnB for all afternoon. Danny and his dog Pepper left on a ride from BnB. Part way thru his ride he called me ( aren’t cell phones great?) while on his ride requesting assistance w/ Pepper as she was suffering from the heat and sun. He selected a rendezvous. I bought a cold h2o for him and headed out. Met him. I drove Pepper back to BnB & put her in Danny’s truck. Success, helped a buddy out. Shower @ Danny’s then a dash out to desert racing the sunset and hoping for a regular spot. There is a large parking lot almost right off the hwy w/ a CXT outhouse. Tonight the lot was packed w/ big RVs. A gathering of bemouths. Preferred spot is still occupied by same camper. The diesel pusher from WA is still here.

Temp is comfortable. Desert is so great.

Last year this Monday was when I left heading to Augusta, GA for the IMBA World Summit. Took a month to get there. This year I will be staying a month longer and staying this side of the Continental divide.
