More of the Same

Still hanging around Sedona, riding some days, doing volunteer trail work, grocery shopping etc.

Dead fox had been bitten into and becoming putrid. Today Dry Creek was down enough to keep feet dry on random stepping stones. Zags are in the Sweet Sixteen. I watched their first 2 games at barside at PJs. Trails are dried out some becoming dusty. Bill and Susan and boys returned to Sedona. Bill, 10yo Bing, and I got in a ride.

For several days into today the higher output burner produced a lazy flame that looked like a campfire. I decided it was caused by the oil in the propane. Dealing with the contaminated tank became more urgent. Today I drove to CV and the RV shop. Guy said he could fix it right now. Fantastic. He removed the burner and found lots of rust chips. He blew it out and reinstalled. Flame is normal. tank priority slides. Guy looked at my tank, said tank has rust spots and will fail someday. He is working up the replace cost.

Noticing rigs with mtn bikes attached. Trails are almost empty except for the popular hiking trails. First part of Chuck Wagon on a weekend is a heavy hiker crowd.

Sunday I rode around Hogs.

Today I planned on riding from where Chuck Wagon crosses Dry Creek road. However, the road shoulders were parked full. Drove down to bottom of Canyon of Fools. Steve likes to ride from here which starts with an uphill but finishes on COF downhill. But today I lengthened the ride adding in mescal Aerie, Cockscomb plus wandering to return to van.

Will’s map cover photo location
but with me in it.

Ran into a rider climbing up Cockscomb near where this pic was taken. Bushy white beard. He asked if we met on Shades awhile back. Yes we did. He’s from Columbus. In conversation he said his parents have a place on Pleasant hill Lake back near where I grew up. And right near the Mohican trail which he will ride on his next trip back. Bushy white beards are happening you youngsters.

Mid 70s on the ride today. Shorts and short sleeve jersey. Working on the tan with lines. Making a successful consumption of water during my rides. 100 OZ is not out of the realm of possibility. Today it was 17.4 miles pedaling for 2 hrs 35 mins.

Tonight sleeping in W Sedona. 2 PT sessions tomorrow. 2 therapists working on different parts of my body.
