Did some walking

My body is getting less painful which is to be my guide line for activity. Sat I was able to wear pants with a belt putting the slovenly sweat pants back as insulation in my van.

Steve on Sat planned to drive up to Baker Creek for a memorial then go over the pas to Fischer creek. He planned on camping on Prarriee creek, he invited me to share the evfening with him. This spot is further towards the Galena summit, beyond Oregon Gulch which has the highest I had visited. I was glad I did as the scenery and mountains are in the mountains vs the sage covered hills down lower. I found a secluded spot, the green van color blending in w/ lodgepole trees. Steve went by never seeing me. I was just above the fast flowing namesake creek. NOAA forecasts flooding till furhter notice. Flow remained in its bed but was too strong to want to wade across it. Spent pleasant evening. Ran the furnace in the morning for wonderful climate on wake up.

Steve left for Fischer creek ride. I wanted to hike to learn how my body would feel. A snow covered peak above camp attracted me. A bush bash scramble.

what I wanted to be on top of

I saw fresh elk droppings and smelled their odor, never saw any. Climb went thru low angle forest cover breaking into steeper broken rock scramble. I huffed and puffed my way up. I chose discretion to turn around about 400′ below summit. I could have pushed myself to the top however I was unsure what my body would give me. Going up is a hump, going down is a strain as I soon experienced the knee load going down same steepness.

4 hr round trip climbing just short of 2,000′. Knees survived.

Boulders

Back at camp I put out my chair in the sun. Mosquitoes sought nourishment.

Chilly night.

I felt good after hike yesterday morning. On to next hike. I chose to hike up Boulder Creek for as far as I chose to go. Trail ran up the creek cut. Beautiful day again. I hiked and hiked on an old wagon road that climbed to an old mine site. Creek was flowing noisily. I made it to where the old road crossed the creek with no ford or dry feet crossing. Too strong a flow and I did not need to continue: I accomplished what I wanted to. Turn around. Took 1 hr 15 mins up but 1 hour down.

up Prairie creek

Drove back to Ketchum. Spent night out on trail Creek.
