Hiline

Stayed @ Beaverhead Flats spot last night which is right on upper edge of a canyon. Sunlight hits the ridge to the east then me. Time to get up.

Drove up to BnB. Scott said my shock is to be sent back to PUSH for service to fix the air leak. I put back on the RP3 PUSH tuned shock I bought when I bought my first DW Spot. Scot gave me his slightly worn Minion that I put on front. I swapped the Conti Trail King on the front to the back and storing the Mtn King. BnB gang are really behind the Minion for local riding for traction and sticking on slick rock. OK, I’m pedaling a pound more in tire to learn if true and if extra weight is worth the traction benefit.

Joey invited me on a Hiline ride starting just above red Rock Crossing that I call pink feet because of the cold h2o covering the step stones. Essentially started climbing and finished downhill. We crossed Oak Creek and climbed on Templeton to Sleazy Breezy wash and intersected w/ new trails climbing back to Shades @ the Hiline trail intersection. Did some more climbing on Hiline then just noodled along narrow technical bench cut trail out to the pedestal for a break.

From here the trail dropped down dirt then makes a left turn out onto slick rock over to the drop in. Today I rode the top part then walked  some. The trail is being rerouted just below the nasty switchback to make it more sustainable. Tricky riding.

The exit is in a wash where I fell 2 years ago and broke my right collar bone. Trail joined w/ Baldwin which we rode back to Oak creek.

Short road ride back to van. Joey treated us to his employee benefit of Oak Creek beer. A shower @ Snap @ dinner @ Wildflower then drive out to Deer Pass to usual residents.

Interesting: I rode the entire 10.22 miles climbing1264′ in middle chain ring and in the 1 hr 44 mins I never went anaerobic .
