Better internet connection.

Today Scott @ BnB worked on my fork, shock, and seat post. Oh, he found my rear brake was dragging also. The last shop that worked on the fork put too much oil in which severely shortened the travel. A turkey baster worked as an extractor. the shock air can is lacking anodize in several places that over time creates a lock out that diminishes the travel. Perhaps warranty or a new shock. The reverb seat post needs to be rebuilt. The rear brake caliper needed cleaned to free a stuck retracted piston. The bike suspension travels as it should. I rode Bike and Bean out shades to Templeton then down a wash to Sleezy Breezy wash ride back, crossed the road back to Shades. The bike was definitely more fun to ride. I sessioned features that I haven’t been able to master. I attempted each 3 times. If after the third try the feature still bested me I rode on. Several I made before the rule of 3 came to play. i rode one on the first time. I am continuing to refine my confidence in fine motor skills. A place on Sleezy the trail goes under a dead tree which angles away from the near side of the wash. A 90 degree turn or a 18″ step up is needed. I chose to wedge myself under the tree @ the apex of my turn then pedal out. Finished ride @ the shop. I am hanging here till 7:00 when Gonzaga plays Butler @ home, televised on ESPN. I will watch it @ PJs here in VOC.

The Bike and Bean shop. New location in a small almost circular shopping center. Several restaurants, etc. Jimmy opened 1st of Dec. The traffic visiting him has increased substantially. All things being equal the increase is attributed to parking space which the other store lacked.

This morning I drove from same crowd @ Deer Pass into town for Bfast w/ Danny and his female companion, Ella. She is studying massage. She gave me a castor oil poultice to apply to my sore right shoulder.

Friday was a mid afternoon BnB shop ride. All locals a subset of the greater population. Chunky ride during which Scot’s critical eye discovered bike ills. I am only able to catch up w/ the group when they take a break @ a trail intersection to keep me on route. Then they pedal off.

Thurs night I attended a USFS trail meeting along w/ maybe 60 others. An on going issue are the non system trails meaning they have not been approved by the FS. There mtn bikers and hikers building their own purpose built trails. This meeting was educational as a USFS biologist and archeologist spoke on their respective specialties. Their responsibility is to comply w/ federal law. The non system trails have not been evaluated for environmental affect. Local talk is FS is working towards closure of some of the trails. The environment needs to be protected. In that protection the what that makes Sedona what it is will be effected. I got lots from the speakers.

Earlier I rode Soldiers wash aka Secret Trails. This time I rode down Crusty using what little gravity engine there was to help the wash riding. Such a fine balance and riding my bike where I perceive it should go.  Javalena climbs upslope to Jordan then down Adobe Jack.

A shower @ Snap then down to VOC for FS meeting.

Pleasant temps have returned in the sun. The shaded spots still are cold soaked. I am still savoring a light weight long under wear top even in the warm sun as the shade spots most noticeably  in the washes can be like entering a refrigerator. Even today there isolated small patches of snow.

After Friday BnB shop ride Jimmy pours beer and supplies pizza. So far it is mostly locals of Bike and Bean’s posse. And I am a part of it. I seek to have community connection.

Today @ BnB a pickup parked next to me. Zack is visiting from frozen Moab. He said that I have 3 stickies that he has ties to. We talked about Moab trails. After his ride I shared my Sedona knowledge. Previously he was a smoke jumper ti he hurt his knee.

Off to killer salad and the Zags game.
