The Wanderers danger is to find comfort

From Blue Highways. I sat in the sun today rereading the book. I get his words.

Sunday Woody invited me to join his group ride. From his place we rode to FS visitor center to pick up newly constructed ticket to Ride. The first part was constructed last year upon which a winter and tires rolled the tread firm except the summer traffic loosened dust dirt. A slight amount of rain fell the previous night but made little dampening of the tread. The last part was machine built about 2 weeks prior was slightly loose, definitely not rolled firm as first part. Fun older persons ride.

Woody and JoJo

Yesterday was a rest day with a list of tasks. I now have a complete matching set of tires on the van. Driving it is now more fun as the mismatched set caused the van to wander. Still can’t leg steer however. Ordered freezer door hinge parts to keep the door shut instead of opening downward onto my head.

A van got to my favorite spot before me. But tonight I have it back.

From my spot I can see over to a party place where the revelers litter as a rule. Tonight I saw 2 people hurl what I suspected were beer bottles into the brush. I fumed as wanting to confront them was met by fear of physical conflict. While they were still there a Sheriff’s rig drove by heading their way. I ran out and flagged the deputy down and told him about the partiers. He stopped earlier but they didn’t display beer containers. They drove away as he left me. Young people.Woodsy Owl: “don’t pollute” message missed them. Maybe that message hasn’t been delivered to these younger people. I walked over there after dinner: rolling rock beer cans littered. I did not clean up. May the deputy’s visit deter them from returning. Perhaps the license plates were recorded and a citation be issued.

Visited Webcyclery at their new location: Kevin bought an old church for his new home. Good looking shop. I parked in front of a house. Upon return a woman was sitting on her walk steps beside my van. She struck up a conversation: She used to live outside Zion NP. We shared info as we both were familiar with places and some people.

Yesterday at the cross walk in front of 10 Barrels a man and woman rode by on their bikes. It was Tyler and Liza whom I met on Lookout mtn ride. they stopped for a visit. Nice people.
