I get booted out of the fenced in service area at 7.
This AM I did my bfast and making ready to leave Union Creek XG on shores of Phillips lake near Baker City. Put key in ignition turned, waited for glow plug light to go out, turned the key: engine happily turned over but did not catch. This started today’s adventure culminating at present at a dodge dealer parking lot in La Grande, to which town I was headed to anyway. Real long story aboutĀ delivering me to this spot. Tonight will be a motel room.
Sat was last Woods River Valley ride with Steve as we rode Greenhorn up then climbed some more on Imperial before its downhill. Put new Minnion on front, seated with floor pump pressure. At mouth of Greenhorn we saw these:
Fun downhill reward after Steve being either my rabbit or brake for me to lead the down.
Visited with a “disabled” woman riding an ebike. She is local and complies with regs which allowed her bike on said trail. She and her husband also on an ebike passed us while we huffed up steep part.
Visited with several riders in the parking lot afterwards.
Spent night down at Steve’s.
Yesterday I bid Steve adieu as I turned west and north to Baker City, OR and Lake russel and a FS XG to rdie the around the lake trail. Senior pass: $10 FS site. Lake is under Elkhorn crest:
easy almost dead flat trail thru open P-pine trees. I mean almost ran over a turkey hen attending to her hatch
she is past were I was, she bad wing charged me.
Which is now back at start of my day. Tomorrow the Dodge dealer takes a look at my van. Enjoyed tow truck driver conversation the 64 miles to La Grande.
Rereading Blue Highways. For me lots of kernels of insights and wisdom inĀ the little I have read. Something about traveling by yourself makes you ready to engaged in conversation. Fits.
People face life either avoiding adventure or looking for it. How prescient. I am living it as it comes to me when it lands in my lap or actively seeking it on my terms.
Gotta go.
Geez Craig! I can’t imagine
Yep, van issues for me too…part of the whole home maintenance thing! Hoping not to motel it tonight. Slept in front of auto ago last night.
