practice

i have a bit of use of my right arm being able to offer limited support to my non dominant left arm. i don’t remember ever learning to write left hand which i am now learning. heck, i am still figuring out how to grip a pen. today is the end of the first week, 5 more to go.

last week what appeared to be an official pop up instructing me to download newest version of maybe flashdrive. i started the downloading which turned out i invited a virus into my computer bypassing the anti virus software. i learned this from the same computer tech who previously hosed my history. my computer spent the weekend in the shop. virus wiped clean.

i have been reading. i bought an ipod docking station w/ speakers for the house. i will learn about acquiring new music then load it into the ipod.

thanks to all your well wishes. many of us are empathetic about long recovery. i thought of an apt peer group: RAP recovering active people, a support group a person could call before they fell off the recovery plan. the person receiving the call would coach that person to get back on the recovery couch. hi, my name is craig and i am addicted to strenuous physical activity.

my last haircut was back in april, i am working on the scruffy look. i heard a song today from back in the 60s, the chorus lines were; get a haircut and a decent job. i lived that chorus in real time.personal reflection on my looks is still rebellion. i no longer need to cut my hair to get any kind of job. today i succumbed to a neatening up cut.

friend les is riding in moab this week.

thurs is follow up dr visit to remove the stitches closing 4 holes. i am not sleeping well or long because of the pain for which i quit taking the pain pills. friend arch told me how the pain abatement pills are important to my recovery. not getting at least 4 hrs of uninterrupted sleep will cause behavior changes. i am back on the percoset. i need sleep.

left hand lane for the right kinda guy

whew man, only my left arm is available for work substituting for the guy on the right.my old dog is acquiring skill to hold a writing instrument, get a grip. then i will work on writing readable text. didn’t sleep last night. i stacked bed pillows to make an upper back recliner to protect the shoulder. pain and sleeping on my back equaled no sleep last night.
finished ruby ridge today. fear the government!!!! next is grisham’s the racketeer.

sewn back together

What a support group i have. i am greatly humbled. jenifer has been the spark plug. she is a nurse and taking care of me. last night she gave me 2 dinners worth of casserole. she went over my meds etc.

the most painful part of the surgery is getting an iv in. today was the worst as it took the 3rd stick to plumb in. i remember some of the nurses and some me from prior visits, the last visit back in may of ’08.  kody stopped for his preop. he said he hoped i said my prayers for the repair of a nasty tear. i said i hope he said his prayers for his successful repair. he signed my right shoulder.

i was wheeled into the or. i told the 2 women nurses that the place looks still the same that humorously jabbed @ them, being female and all making changes. i think one was the anesthe… and she slipped me a mickey. next recollection was in recovery room stage 2. whacked out. jennifer was right  there to pick me up. stopped @ pharmacy for pain meds, darn, adeline was not working. she drove me to new digs here @ pastor don’s and julie. i have eaten and drinks of water. ice 24×7 on. will sleep in bed propped up by pillows.

1 hand typing and missing some editing corrections.

DR Kody gave me a dvd of the ortho surgery. i presented to him a challenge that he relished and he bested. it was a complex tear, like delamination of plies then a tear. 22 min video of him suturing the tendon together then onto the bone. he also repaired the collar bone joint that was trashed. Kody talked telling me how he was going to put me back together then while he was doing it. he said the mri made the injuries worse than than what he worked with. he said that he made a successful repair now his success rests on resting my right arm. he said 3 months recovery. i owe him his success.

last night i met w/ the realtor to look @ joe’s old place. i invited Jennifer along. i lived beside him for 16 years but i never went over for a visit. i have desire for that property if all the accumulated “stuff” was removed. no more, it was nasty. darn. i would like living back here again.
almost finished w/ jesse walter’s ruby ridge book. fear our government.
