Still above ground

Precip in the form of rain or skiff of snow put enough moisture into the ground that the below freezing temps at night froze which the full sun and above freezing daytime temp softened to make slime. Dreaded freeze Thaw. I have been sleeping at the upper JEM TH which is at 4281′. The trails up here are on clay which is still very sticky, just not enough day time high with night above freezing. I test trail condition every day to learn that mud still sticks to my shoes. I have been idle.

Last week my right forearm started barking. Dunno what is causing my discomfort. On Mon I visited a PT clinic that is in the same facility as Urgent Care and a primary care DR I established care with years ago. Insurance no longers allow me to self refer for PT. My plan was to be seen either by UC, which I suspected might have a no wait time, or the PC. I scored a PC visit and subsequently the PT referral for  an appointment on Wed. Today I was adjusted at a chiro, again returning patient, who caused my body to make many cracking sounds as parts were made to go where they belong. Some pain mitigation in my arm. I think the knee bone and the thigh bone are not in proper order which ends in my forearm. I am concerned that the riding is the culprit perhaps coming all the way down from my destroyed  shoulder.

Yesterday I rode Prospector Church Rocks as an easy tech ride. Pretty day.

Also riding there was a man who appeared to be my age. He was faster. Back at the TH he was still there. I struck up a conversation. He just retired from a Wyoming college where he was an economics professor. I met college graduation requirements with an economics major. Intellectual discussion took place. He is learning the no work lifestyle but expressed some desire to still share his knowledge professionally. He’s not ready to completely go off grid so to speak.

This laptop apparently does not like my present DVD player which won’t play library DVDs which work fine on a library computer. I bought a new one this afternoon, later I will learn if the dvd was the culprit.

Sunset where I stay:

Under Gooseberry

Received my new down blanket today. My present blanket is at least 15 years old, years of use that I believe the down is not rising up to its full warmth. Last night I was chilly at 51 degrees inside temp. The furnace runs all night to make that temp. Hard getting out from under the covers to face that chill. No long underwear yet.

Earlier this year I read an article about rum. Article stated rum aged 5 years or more is enjoyable. In Bentonville I sipped a shot. Yesterday I bought a jug of aged 8 years that was sipped last night. It doesn’t bite like corn liquor. Very enjoyable and affordable.

So my sliding cargo door inside latch handle is sort of broken. Sort of as if I mickey it around I can make it open the door. What web research I found determined that the handle is the culprit. yesterday was on line ordering of replacement part. It appears that replacement can be accomplished w/o moving the galley.

Sun I took a shower, the first in 17 days. I did enjoy the feeling of very warm water running down my back. My skin is working to replenish the soap solved oil. I am no longer obsessed with a shower after every ride. I just wet washcloth swab what I can reach and a DR Bronner’s pits and crotch scrub and I am off the be smelled in public. My skin is less chapped and I have more minutes in my life.
