Yesterday morning Floyd gave me my last trim for the year. He cuts my hair when I roll into town then gets in a trim to last till next year. Drove up to Fat Tire for Dave’s conversation. While there his friend Nello from Sun Valley dropped in. Steve and I ran into him last year. 82 years old and stronger than me. While there several nasty squalls blew thru creating puddles. Then to Entire Care PT at Dry Creek. Drove back down to VOC for a beer date with Jimmy. Rain on the way, needed normal speed wipers. Dinner at Corner table then out to beaverhead. Picked the closer spot to avoid a perhaps soft mud slog. Ran the furnace during the night.
Graphic shop called to arrange sticker attachment to my van. The original Freehub sticker faded away and I chose to replace it. Much effort was required to strip the sticker and adhesive backing off the van side. Showed up this AM for installation. Their mistake of them printing the sticker larger than my original one. Grumbling from installer. Charged me for the requested smaller size but gave me the bigger one.
Today’s ride was at Dead Horse ranch FS land outside of Cottonwood. I attached my phone to the handle bar and called up a loop ride in MTBProject. Strong sunlight made the screen difficult to read plus needing my cheater glasses to read the small icons. I made a mistake by riding the ending leg before its time. At the turn around point I heard a rider working a cattle gate. He “pedaled” up to me. Immediately I noticed it was an ebike. I said FS don’t allow. He said, I know then “pedaled away. I caught up to him on a steep tech climb but he reached the top b4 me then sped away. Picked today for this ride because of lower forecasted temps in spite of mostly full on sun shine. Forecast called for probability of T storms and showers. The sky looked like it might agree. Finished my ride while still dry. 18.7 miles, 1640′ climbing, pedaling 2 hrs 19 mins. easier riding than Sedona.
As I drove towards Sedona I watched black clouds with rain sheets descending. Strong winds and heavy rain. Need the rain. Deciduous trees are in full leaf out. Amazing w/ so little rain.
Clean clothes and sheets again. I hang my technical items on my inside drying line. I use wooden spring clothes pins to mount the clothing on the line. Some of the clips are from my original purchase back in 1992. I kind of estimate the number of pins needed. Several times I almost equaled the pins to clothes. Today I nailed it: equality.
Chilly night at the Worm.
