20,007 miles

That’s what my spread sheet total is for riding a mountain bike since July, 2008. On 3 different Turner 5 Spots. Nothing is original. The front derailleur is the oldest part installed back in Jan 2010 on the DW 5 Spot. The PUSH tuned Monarch shock is just a little younger.

The chiro adjustment freed up my shoulder giving me a big smile. yesterday’s acupuncture helped other issues. Forecast last night was for more precip. I awoke this AM after a pleasant sleep w/ sunlight pouring thru the windshield. Absolute blue sky. I checked out the road to my favorite spot where a rig has been since before rain fell. The FS posted a sandwich board sign closing the road which was all kinds of chewed up.

I drove to the Bean. I asked for 1/2″ to be cut off each end of the bar. Tim advised me to raise the bar to sit more upright to lessen weight on my hands. I put cleats on my warranty replacement Terraduro shoes. I still did not wear a pack. I pedaled away just happy to be pedaling outside. I feel pain in my shoulder. I rode a piece of Baldwin single track. Amazing how non muddy the trail was even w/ water running across the trail in the washes. Watch out for the black stuff as it is slippery. Red Rock Crossing on Oak Creek is large stepping stones w/ just get your feet wet depth. I call it Pink Feet as that is what my feet change to. Today the water was pink nuts high. It had been higher as seen by the debris higher in the trees.

2 nights ago I experienced a painful heartburn. Very painful. Alcohol induced. Yesterday I drank non and my stomach was quite happy. Today I only drank 1 beer. Lay off the moonshine for recovery.

A print shop is making new calling cards for me using a picture that Jan took of me. New look.

I took a hot shower this evening that dried out my skin, I want to scratch dry skin.

Creek’s rising

I’m parked again at the overlook on pavement as the rain has saturated the side roads: can’t get into what I can’t get out of. I picked a different spot in the cul de sac to closest to the hard road but I can level the van w/ blocks. Several days ago I smeared sealant on the underside of the roof fan which has now stopped big drips. I will replace the fan as the flanges are cracked which is where the water drips from. I’ll seal to the faying surface first. Furnace performs as expected. I want a thermostat that I can set at a selected temperature.

Forecasted rain fell a day late today. Heavy rain, not previous showers. Washes are running and the creek is rising. So much rock for surface area running onto dirt that has no organic to hold water change dry washes into trickles that grow to deluge. It is chocolate malt milkshake thick. Lesser amounts of rain are forecasted till Thurs. The Sedona Mountain Bike festival is this weekend for sunshine and receding water. Trails could be too wet to ride. Shits.

I thank the comment rider about too wide bars causing stress on shoulders. I asked my PT today about that and she concurred. I will shorten mine to a be decided width. Ideally they should be shoulder width.

Today during PT I impressed Linda w/ my range of motion after she said I had a tear. Plan is still to strengthen surrounding muscles. Back in Hurricane I fell also on my left hand. The inside of my elbow started hurting. I ignored it as I didn’t need another injury. Last week the cause of pain was tendon irritation. I am to ice it 3X day. Today I was told to buy a wrist guard to quiet the tendon activity. So far pain is diminished.

I sought a chiro treatment this afternoon. I told him about my shoulder issue. He returned the collar bone to its home which frees up muscles to work correctly. Amazing. I can move fully and freely.

I made an acupuncture appointment for tomorrow. My lower legs are tingly all the time. Checking w/ MD on this also.

Sat I watched the Zags game @ PJs. They got beat. Their ranking went from 3 to 7 this week.

Late Sun afternoon clouds quit dripping removing a reason not to hike. I hiked around made in the Shade again. I saw 1 biker. The trails were wet but firm. Sandstone can be slippery when wet. Would have been a good ride.
