New years eve Sedona

The forecast was calling for big snow storm to hit starting later last night and continuing for several more days. Starts as rain then changes to snow, forecast for max 5″ over the storm. And the temp is to drop below freezing which will create freeze thaw mud until the temp does not go below freezing. Yesterday was the last good day of riding for the near future. A subset of the locals were getting in their rides. Me? I’m too hurt to ride and bummed not being able to. Good thought was every day the riding would be too shitty was another day of my healing, I would be just like everybody else in not being able to ride but less antsy because I can not.

Jimmy told me about a chiro they use which is what i was needing. He was closed yesterday.

Yesterday I drove out to Beaverhead to check out camp spots and the condition of the “road” in which are just driven in paths on the dirt that will become muddy w/ some amount of moisture. The spot on the right has a mud bar to drive thru and somebody was already there. Someone walked off w/ my stashed javalina head. The other spots were OK. I checked out the overlook which is a paved cul de sac. Pavement is the key in case the forecast becomes reality.

Back @ the shop I continued to reacquaint myself w/ old buddies. I also worked the crowd in the parking lot.

I waited till after dark about 5:30 to drive back to beaverhead cul de sac. I needed leveling blocks under the rear wheels. I prepared myself for snow. I ran both heat sources and was snug as a bug. I crawled between the flannel sheets & turned off the furnace. I awoke about 4:30 to the sound of rian drops on the roof. Not yest snow. I went back to sleep. Some time later I awoke and listen to a different sound which was dead quiet. I got up and looked out the window: Snowing. A bigger RV also chose the pavement. My concern was the road condition at the bottom of Beaverhead onto rt 179. This Am I need to get into VOC to see the chiro. By the time I put bfast stuff away and started driving down beaverhead the traffic hard worn the white to water and I was able to stop at the intersection.

The chiro was opened and taking walk ins. He adjusted 3 people by the time I filled out the office paper work. My turn. My upper chest pain was caused by a rib vertebrae mislocation that he put back as well as my left hip. The left lower back pain is because of the rib itself and not chiro treatable. My discomfort is considerably lessened and I know that all that can be fixed has been.

Snow was still falling and heavily. Lots of traffic heading down canyon. No slipping and sliding. No desire to be driving beyond the shop. Bike and Bean does a busy bike rental business. Snow on the trails equals no bike rentals which means no customers. Great palce for local riders to hang which we did and the beer tap flowed. I parked in the parking lot planning to be here for several days til the campspots on beaverhead dry out.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAPeople were making snow craft. Not us,

Christine, Lee, Duff,Simon, Kent, Juanita, Zak, JimmyWay more than 5″ fell.

Nobody pulled together a party, people wandered away by 7:30. It is 8:39 and I am parked in a parking lot at the Bean. I have both heaters working. I’ll be in bed well b4 midnight. Temp is forecast to 21 degrees, all this warm snow will freeze. 5 people crowded into my home to share my health cure.

This is my 6th winter here, I among people I have gotten to know and are friends with. People above are locals. We share history. I stay here the longest time. For me it is comforting.

I am figuring that in several days when the trails will be dry enough to ride I will be ready to go.

Tomorrow are bowl games: Ohio State against Alabama who is favored. I’ll be another bar stool potato @ PJs watching. Zags play on Sat.
