Yesterday AM I manged my time to arrive @ RV service for 9AM appointment. Guy looked at me w/ some dissatisfaction that it was me w/ the scheduled propane leak. The Sat guy said he would be talking to the Mon guy but that didn’t happen. The Mon guy worked on it previously. He educated me on what he did and found. In essence the propane system was clean as was the orifice and the furnace fuel valve. He disconnected the electric valve which is where he found a piece of plastic he thinks might be coming from deteriorating tank. He thinks the malfunction is in the electronics, like a slight loose connection that w/ the correct amount of jiggling it connects. No service was performed.
I drove back to the credit union to withdraw cash from my checking account. No card in the mail.
I headed to Hurricane down US 191 to US 160 to UT 68 to Page, AZ. I stayed on US 89 to Kanab then thru Colorado City in the dark. Sleeping spot is the upper JEM TH where I have stayed in the past. No sign. In the dark and I remembered how the TH road went. In the dark. There is a small wash that crosses this now raw dirt road that is worse than it was 2 years ago. I had hoped BLM would have fixed it. All by myself.
I had internet access that allowed me to open my emails. I had 2 cancellation of service notes because debit card was rejected. First was internet service that I and a representative in an on line chat gave me another week. Second was Earthclass that was holding my cards that in present status of closed I could not incur a charge to ship the card to be able to pay my account. Today I spoke w/ a rep and she clicked keys and allowed me to ship 2 day Fed Ex to Hurricane. Thurs should be card day. Previously AARP requested yearly dues b4 I would receive the cards. I called and spoke w/ a rep, she gave me 6 months free dues.
I stopped @ Over the Edge of Hurricane, one of my resting and re provisioning spots. Big Al walked in, a huge bear of a man, makes at least 2 of me gave me a full body hug. Interesting guy.
Weather forecast had been calling for rain in the afternoon but kept moving it later. The day was overcast and threatening. I wanted to ride the classic Hurricane Cliffs IMBA Epic ride b4 rain. I deferred again to forecast and pedaled on. These trails have a lot of broken slab boulders and packed clay in between. 20.68 miles climbing 2195′ in 2 hrs 34 mins. I did not stop other that to catch my breath several times.
Fire burned here back in 2012, all of this was burnt over.
My right TMJ is very uncomfortable making chewing not the happiest thing I do. Last night dinner was late so I made a toasted cheese sandwich w/ shredded chicken. Towards the end I didn’t chew a bite up well enough b4 swallowing which I did then I inhaled. I believe I inhaled some of the sandwich. I coughed and coughed deeply and wrackingly attempting to get food out of the air department. Didn’t sleep well. This AM no as much coughing. During the ride I never noticed anything not working other caused by advancing age. But then I started coughing later. My throat is raw, I have rib muscle pain. Hurricane has a first rate Urgent Care facility that will have the opportunity to tell me of my condition tomorrow.
I am parked in town on a vacant lot choked w/ tumbleweeds diagonal to OTE. Water wets the raw dirt like the JEM TH which makes the dust gloppy that bogs down vehicles. I chose the city for mobility.
Tonight the furnace is cycling and igniting. It made my little abode very toasty causing me to turn down the heat. Rain falling lightly on and off w/ temp at 48 .
There is an AnyTime fitness facility right down Main st from OTE. Chain membership, wand my fob for entry, find 1 of 2 shower rooms, and I turned the temp up to warm up.
Forecast doesn’t call for 30 degree nights out 6 days. Little chance of rain which the trails really need. No freeze thaw mud.
Several new legal trails have been cut in on the JEM portion of the ride. I will add them later. BLM land, trails built w/ federal funding for Americor.
