31 degrees at wake up

Frost build up on the inside of the windshield. Camped out off Beaverhead Flats road @ 39xx’. Steve was parked beside me in his Sprinter. He has a forced air heater that burns diesel from his fuel tank. The exhaust pipe faced my slider door. The noise was unobjectionable from inside my van. Inside his van the forced air provided a more pleasant temperature than my catalytic heater. I plan on buying a forced air heater that will run on my propane system, I need to find a company that can install it.

I rode last on Sunday during the high wind storm that swirled dust into the air. The Sedona airport reported 37mph gusts. The wind of slightly lesser velocity continued till today. Yesterday was long pants and Pisgah jersey cold. Today, no wind, getting warm under sunny skies. Conditions are more better for riding.

Tues. was my last PT appointment, I am released to my own exercises. Paige was pleased w/ my range of motion meaning that the reattached parts are still attached.

Chevron Tony added my moonshine choice to his liquor stock so now I don’t need to drive to Cottonwood to buy. The distributor gave him a free jug that he gave to me. Moonshine party after the shop ride Fri @ Bike and Bean.

This morning before I even got my coffee going Steve called me to look outside @ a hot air balloon lifting off. The basket held a passel of people. Something happened to end the ride almost b4 it got off the ground. People crawlyed over the railing then the flight crew deflated the balloon and hauled it away.

I started planning travel plans. I need to manage my time to arrive in Steamboat 8/21. Who all I will visit and how long i will stay must be planned…. sort of.

yesterday while parked @ BnB an older guy, Tom,  was directed by Jimmie to visit. He has connections to Green River, WY. When I visited there several years ago I was given his name and number as a local rider who could share their trails w/ me. He was somewhere else so he couldn’t join. He turned me on to Grayhair, another knowledgeable local, who lead me on 2 rides. Tom had a bike shop in town. Grayhair had sort of a repair shop @ his house where he worked on bikes as a second job. What continuing connections.

Doing my wash @ George’s laundromat.

Yesterday I did my taxes using Turbotax. I stuck w/ it for several hours and completed it, mailed the results and a check for the balance. My effective tax rate is 4.2%.

Gotto go fold clothes.
