research data reveals that 63.8% of the statistics are made on the spot. yesterday the PAC who works with the ortho dr said i had an 80% chance that my shoulder is healing ok and that i did not tear stitches. he said that there is no reliable testing method to ascertain a tear after surgery. the proof of successful repair will be in another 3 weeks during my 6 week post surgery follow up. be that as it may. what is done is did, worrying sick about what i think i did will not help me positively. i am treating my body w/ some care but well above bed rest. the vicadin pain meds are freaking my body out. among other attributes they bind me up. i take a laxative before bed, when the pain med wears off i am awakened by my digestive system gurgling creating quite a ruckus. i also throw involuntary isometric shivers that go away after another dose kicks in. the PAC has no disposition to prescribe medical pot. my personal medication just puts a smile on my face. a legal smile in WA state but illegal in the other 48 states. tip of the hat to john prine’s song about the illegal smile.
yesterday was tooth crown prep @ dentist. the dental insurance thru aarp paid for itself by reducing the crown price by 50% (actual cost data). another hunk of investment gold will be added.
over 3 years ago i was educated during a 3 day better ride clinic which markedly improved my skills and upped my riding enjoyment. i share w/ receptive riders. i drank the coolaid and it tasted good. (another legal smile legal in all 50 states). in the new issue of bike there is an article about west virginia riding. there is a full page pic of sue haywood, a better ride coach, resident of davis where the article was based on, and a former trek factory racer. she demonstrates the classic attack body position. i met sue back in harrisonburg, va the first year of my odyssey. i rode behind her on hog heaven in sedona and watched her pull this perfect pedal wheelie off a drop to land flat wheeled. i also visited davis 2x. i still have a piece of chaga. gene hamilton, the owner of better ride, added a video on his site demonstrating proper body position. check out better ride.net web site.
i have seen so much, met so many people, reconnected w/ some people, i have experienced so much and so joyfully, i just want to continue this lifestyle. may my shoulder heal well enough to allow my continuous.
Hey Craig,
I read that article in Bike mag also and noticed Sue Hayward’s form but did not know she was a Betterride instructor. I’ve been doing some drills in preparation for Moab. Leaving next week. Take care do yourself.
