Yesterday I rode Dreggs which is in regrowth redwoods. Trails are mostly old resource extraction roads that are being kept open for future extraction and fire access. Nicely mapped and signed on the ground. Cool under the canopy. I kept my ride short because I wanted to drive across the Golden gate bridge and being headed out of the city before the rush hour. I accomplished my plan albeit concentrating on the driving and not the scenery. Windy. I also was recuperating from dehydration from yesterday. Still not copiously peeing.
Riding back down the road @ Coe I came upon a dead raven freshly died on the road. I twisted its head off that I will place in a can of living dirt that I hope will have organisms to strip the flesh away.
Next was to drive CA 1 up the coast planning on riding Paradise Royale further up the coast. I bailed because I needed fuel and the road was very exciting to drive. Twisty & hilly. No shoulders. The high vegetation at the edges of the road was scraped back as if it was pruned. I made Santa Rosa for diesel and a place to stay in a small industrial park out near the airport. Nearby was an airplane museum that was all military planes including a Harrier, an A3, and maybe an F-18. Man’s inhumanity to man machines.
Spent hot night @ park. Adjoining property is a road materials plant that worked almost 24 hours. I was awakened @ 5 by truck engines. No visitor telling me wrong place.
Today I am running errands in Santa Rosa then driving over to Downieville. Sat is first shuttle ride day. Going to spend several days there then prolly drive back across the state to Paradise Royale. Then north into Oregon where I will prolly zigzag the state working north.
Gotta go. Downieville lacks internet unless I find a library or Wi-Fi spot.
