Snow and wet

The NOAA forecast won out w/ the more correct forecast. The ground was warm enough to melt the falling snow which was less than the 4″ another site called for. None the less snow fell melting on contact w/ the warm ground. The trails received a nice dampening. At issue is the below freezing night time to lock in the h2o that creates dreaded freeze thaw mud. I hung Wed and Thurs staying out of occasional snow showers. I have rested 2 days after 8 straight days of riding.

Today I hung 6 days of washing machine wet riding kits on the drying line in my van. Cold damp weather lengthens the drying time. I don’t machine dry any of my wool or synthetics as the heat destroys the stretchy material.

Long afternoon @ Fat Tire during which Dave serviced my Chris King rear hub and bottom bracket. Dave does a thorough job. He flushed out the bearings sluicing out grit. Once back together I spun the crank arm backwards. WOW! What resistance free spinning. Grit gets by the bearing seals.

I started the day @ BnB where other riders were mingling. Billy of the Power House in Hailey called me out.

Back out @ Deer Pass.

Yesterday I paid for a hair cut.

  1. Hi Craig
We are starting to get more snow up here in Spokane. We are going backcounty this weekend at Schweitzer. Snow is a good thing here.

  2. This weekend is going to be great. Temps in the 60s in Lewiston and low 50s here. Spring and Spring skiing are on the way. Have fun down there. The pic in the latest blog with you standing on the trail and the sharp peaks behind you makes the area look damned appealing. We need to schedule a trip there.
