Brevard is in Transylvania county that receives more rain than any other county east of the divide. 67″ falls on average. Several days ago the ytd was 21″, average is 18. Lots of rain falling on mountains equals waterfall capital of America. Frequent thunderstorms hit then move on.
One week has passed since I “pulled” my back. Evey day the pain lessens and range of motion increases. I might be able to gently ride this weekend.
I have been staying @ Todd and Heather’s house off Crab creek rd. Heather is a fine cook who keeps feeding me dinner. They have this therapeutic vibrating chair that i have lost myself in several times.
Yesterday i visited Wes’ shop, Sycamore Cycles, the other Pisgah bike shop. I ordered a set of 165mm cranks. Friend Dan in Hurricane has been testing a pair. His data indicates they make for a faster ride as the shorter arm length allows for better complete spin.
Today I dr0ve up to the Cradle of Forestry historical site. This is where modern American forestry was born. Here in the Pisgah. The famous Biltmore stick was developed here and is still in use today for questimating the board feet in a tree.
Small stream swells after rain. Energy wiped off the covering vegetation such as rhodys. Soil is so shallow.
Tomorrow I return to Asheville for bearing replacement on my 5 Spot.
