Yesterday’s forecast called for t storms. I needed a new h2o filter. I decided to spend the day driving to N Little Rock to Camping World, the only place I could locate a filter, some 90 miles away. I skipped ride opportunities between MT Ida and NLR. GPS landed me in the parking lot. Big RV store w/ lots of neat things. I bought the filter and a small battery powered fan to circulate the air. I decided to keep moving to Syllamo trails outside Mountain View. Way the f*** out there. twisty state highways. Lots of churches and no alcohol stores. Beer thirsty. Made Mtn View then the Ozarks confused me when i headed S instead of North. Corrected my navigation blunder to drive to Scrappy Mtn TH off Green Mtn road. Slept in TH parking lot. CXT outhouse from Spokane. Whip poor wills.
Today I rode Scrappy Mtn trail, 12 miles long, the last remaining unridden trail. What a kick. Deep woods. Lots of ticks & poison ivy. Actually 2 nights ago i pulled off several ticks from my Womble hike. Today I kept finding the crawling buggers. So far no poison ivy rash. Scrappy mtn was technically challenging causing me to walk some of the features. I like this trail system. Unfortunately for all the available land several timber harvets cut over the trail.
Lost pics in the computer.
Deployed the awning for shade. Temp was 88 degrees when i finished riding. Cooling breeze. Hung the solar shower on the van hood in the sun. I waited until 5 PM to take a warm shower and dried by the breeze.
Here all by myself.
Tomorrow I will join 2 trails for a big 24 mile ride. Then head over to Big Flat to the closest beer supply. Arkansas is quite dry. Saw empty beer cans on dirt road here so i must be near a bear supply.
Will check out Buffalo River NP for rides. I am kind of destination lacking wandering. I imagine I will continue working my way to Alabama.
