Zen and more

Today’s plan is to meet @ Green Valley area @ ST George @ 9:30 to ride the Zen trail. Fixie Dave & Chris and Jason who hunted me down is joining us. Another beautiful day that got better as the ride wore on. 61 degrees on my van temp when I finished. Lots of small tech features, some I walked but others I made again because of bike; I rode more this year than last on old Spot plus I was recovering from lacerated kidney & not supposed to have been riding. Dave managed the tech stuff on his fixed gear rigid bike. He has to pedal downhill as well as uphill.  I like my squishy geared bike.

Dave got ahead and took pics of us coming thru. I’ll post down below.

Stopped @ rec center for 50 cent shower.

Did wash, grocery shopped, & headed up to upper JEM for another night. Clean sheets & clean body for a great sleep.

As warm as it got today snow still remains in sun sheltered spots. Dan checked out lower JEM and it is still a muddy mess. Temps above freezing @ night for next several days to help dry out but it might not be enough to make the trail rideable.

You gota know when to duck
heading up to Buddha

PUSH has a great deal for you all for Rock Shox Monarch shock and custom tuning on select forks & shocks. Use your winter down time to have your suspension tuned & ready to go for the first dirt ride of the new season. You are spending a chunk of change on a suspension element and it works OK. Get it PUSHed and it will work great. I have asked Santa for the new Monarch. I hope he can find my chimney.

Mollies nipple

It says so on the USGS map. It swells above the landscape @ sundown from out here @ JEM TH parking lot. Today I finally hiked to the top on a trail, not an example of a sustainable trail. Just an observation, most likely a climbers trail that wore in. In the shade a skiff of snow remained just to lessen the traction. View from top was out across miles of desert. Desert landscape.

Mollies nipple @ sunset

Bought a pair of Ergon grips made with cork ovecoating . Will put them on soon. I wore Fixie Dave @ the shop asking questions about their performance.

Spent last night and tonight up @ upper JEM TH. Still patches of snow from Sunday in the shade of leafless bushes.

Yesterday I rode Barrelroll trails in beautiful weather, chilly sunshine.  Great trail system.

Chris cut my hair @ his barbershop. Guys hanging out waiting their turn talked of cars. I picked up a lone magazine on airplanes and started leafing thru it. The guy sitting beside me asked if I flew, I said No. He then told me of his accumulation of licenses and flying. He took an introductory helicopter flight years ago, cost of $100.  They waived his fee because htey knew he would be back. To date license etc have cost him $85,000.  I paid $10 for a neaten ’em up haircut, my beard and hair are shorter far short of a high and tight style.

Forecast is for above freezing temps @ night later in the week which will eliminate the freeze thaw mud. I have been waiting to ride the Hurricane Rim a new IMBA epic ride since I got here. The weather needs to dry up the clay dirt.
