The forecast called for 40% rain

It fell after sunset, for a short while.

Today is a MBH shop ride. Dean said he would ride. I was ready to go before 10:30 the unofficial starting time. Time passed, no one else. I prepared myself for my own ride. And then dean showed. Good a local, no route finding, just riding. He called Doug (from 2 days ago) and then we rode out to his house. I left my glasses on the driver’s seat in my van. Too far along to go back. Naked eyes. Scary. Made Doug’s house. Later 4 riders from the Fruita gang arrived. Dean, Doug, & I are wearing leg armor and ripped shirts. These folks are unprotected w/ all together garb. Such fresh meat. They survived intact.

Rode out to Earl’s cabin, site of an original settler. More washes, rock lift overs, dropins, short steep little hills, a few bar end banging trees. Perfect riding temp w/ a slight breeze. High scattered clouds.

Dean & I rode back into town. I changed clothes and grocery shopped on way out of town into the sinking sun to Deer Pass rd camp spot. The brilliant reds on the underneath edges of the clouds was spectacular. Film can’t capture the sky.

And then it rained just sort of wetted the dirt. Over time gully washers occur and they really clean out the gullies. Soil has no organic material or plant roots to hold it together. Erosion.
