Wingnut is the answer

Woke b4 dawn and tossed and turned, finally up just after 6. Put the move action on and got after life. Grocery shop then laundromat. Clean clothes w/ the line dry items hanging on the clothes line strung across the back of the van. Nice to see riding apparel clothes pinned up. Most of the pins are from my former house and in use continuously since 1992.

Made MBH where I loaded the stuff from the Osprey into the Wingnut then wear it to learn of collar bone pain. Packed passed. Weight is borne low held by a  hip belt. Not real contact w/ the healing fracture. I now have 4 packs inside my van.

Forecast was for rain by 11:00 and high winds. I approached my day per the forecast resigning myself to no ride. Rain held off ( as of 7:55PM no rain has fallen) filling my head w/ riding. I drove back down to BnB to ride the familiar and more gentle trails. Rode Bell pathway to Llama to Little horse to HT to biker made trails Made in the shade and lower shades back to shop. Pack worked well. Should not have eaten the stickie bun @ bagel shop while I read the paper. Hard getting the sugar out of my belly. Spent much o0f ride gasping for breath and a high HR. Doing well  getting back into riding. I will start lengthening the rides.

Shower @ the spa, buy a small piece of salmon @ NEW frontiers for dinner. Drive back to Deer pass. Same van is parked in my favorite spot. I checked it out and my belief it is a place holder for a future camper.

Forecast put off the snow for tonight. Supposed to rain then showers.

Today the wind was blowing drifting sand over the trails in spots. Rain will wet the sand grains, hold them together, and the tires will pack then down. Great riding several days after rain until the sun dries them out. Humidity is low for the norm.

Rear suspension really works better w/o propedal. Next step is to swap out the Fox for the rock shox PUSH tuned Monarch.

no more shots

spent night @ danny’s side yard. he lowered and raised my bed.

today is my first out patient blood clotting test and another chiro appointment. fri is my first dr appointment to manage my clotting issue. they also have a finger stick testing device for instantaneous reading and requires only a finger stick. other places require blood draw and transmission to a lab  etc. i wanted the finger prick. called them this am for the clot test but i was told they couldn’t do it until i became a patient on friday. they found an appointment for me this am which included the intent of fri’s appointment. the nurse pricked my finger and put a drop of blood onto the machine. analysis occurred spitting out the correct clotting level to eliminate the lovenox blood thinning shots. the prick cut clotted right away which is good.

i learned the basilis vein is fully occluded which anchors the clot. the pulmonary embolism was very small if at all. my blood is being tested to learn if i have a genetically disposition to clotting. because of my 2 previous clotting episodes i will be on coumadin for life. i can start walking easily. the ortho doc is controlling when i can up the effort.

life looks much better and will be great when the bone heals. for now it is helping the healing by hanging. i have not searched for a new passion.

Milk & cookies, oh my

Maybe I used the title b4.

Spent quiet cloudless night @ corral. Troy didn’t call for AM ride so I am on my own. That was Plan B. I rode from corral attempting to make the ground agree w/ ride colored map. No shade, flat empty sky and desert sage and old sea bed rocks eroded in buttes and fins and side slopes. Fun trails. I rode a blue, a black, a blue, and finished on a greener. All ridable, what makes them harder is exposure on narrow trails w/ some tech features rolled in. Fun riding. Well built trails wandering up & down in & around land features. Just a few unavoidable sections climbed greater than 12%. I got to steer my bike, sit, spin, & steer. 2  1/2 hours out in sun, quit just after 12:00, temp was 79 w/ a gentle breeze blowing. Enjoyable ride.

vastness of desertTurner & Kokopelli:

Drove back into town looking for a visitor bureau for shower info. Struck out. Will try KOA out of town. Sleeping tonight up Dry Creek seeking shade. Found some cottonwood shade on a residential street for internet access.

Tomorrow evening is shop ride that I will stay for.

I have a dentist appointment 9/13 in Spokane, that is my pull date and location. I can find & enjoy rides between here & there, maybe stay some place to enjoy their, “You could ride here a week and still not get it all” trails. There is another day of riding @ McCoy flats should I choose. Now, i am cooking in the desert.
