Weather here in Hurricane has been sunny, chilly, no winds, and dry dirt. 20 degrees this AM, I saw 48 degrees this afternoon. And more of the same is forecasted.
Yesterday I washed my van, bought propane, added water, bought groceries, and visited at OTE. Googling search for a brake shop in Hurricane found a shop. The check brake pad light turns on. My visit and their expertise was to reveal the cause. The pads are all in good shape and the rotors are still fine. No solution other than a possible computer glitch. They plugged their enhanced diagnostic computer to the van which failed to show any defect codes. Van health per electronic data is healthy. Transmission is not throwing a code which it would if it went sideways. Drove away more at ease.
I spent the night at the JEM TH again. quiet. Furnace runs all night even when turned way down. 57 degrees inside this AM compared to 20 degrees outside.
Today I went thru my mail. I owe property taxes on my property.
I waited for the day to warm up before I set out on my ride. Today I rode from sleep spot down JEM to the Hurricane rim trail picking up Crypto to climb back to intersection w/ Dead Ringer that took me back to the start. Crypto and dead ringer are newer trails. Well laid out and built. More pedaling on the newer trails vs the tech on the older ones. Nice ride. 1X10 is king.
I drove back to town for a shower. My brake has not arrived. USPS is not updating tracking info or it got lost. 3 day delivery would have arrived today.
Drove back to JEM. Still nice enough just before brilliant red sunset I removed the front derailleur and shifter committing now to a 1X10. I bought the shifter from Fixie Dave here maybe 4 years ago.
Did my wash. Greeted the attendant and she remembered me. It’s been 7 years of hanging in Hurricane. Okay, I missed 2013. A younger man asked me if that was my van w/ Jingoism on it. I said yes apprehensively fearing an altercation. I asked him for his definition. He was spot on w/ an educated answer. I need to get over fear of defending myself that might result in physical pain.
Going to ride from here again.
Zags beat the Cougs last night.
