Between my problems and this computer and software I can just spit. I lost the beginning of this post. Recreating it might make a different story.
I can be where ever whenever I want to be. Fortunately I am not in tornado alley.
I returned to Flag for an ortho appointment today. A new X-ray was taken and compared to the last one taken. New bone growth is occurring. My shoulder pain is caused by the bone ends moving against each other which is a good thing. I was offered the option of surgically joining the bone ends or waiting for my body to do the work. In 2 months if I am not happy I can review my decision. I celebrated w/ a ride in the Dry Hills area where I have been riding. I really fucked up my collar bone as the fall was a compression on the shoulder that splintered the collar bone. I have a big knot at the fracture site.
My shortness of breath is getting worse. I took off yesterday to allow the last antibiotic to work its effect on my bronchitis. I scored an appointment @ Ascot garage to replace my air filter. Joe recommended the shop. Existing filter was a dust storm. New one right out of the box. At least I can improve the breathing of my van engine.
Camped back out @ Fort Valley road.
Today I called the pulmonologist in ST George, UT and asked for advice and help. She said that I have mild to moderate COPD whatever that qualification means. I told her about the bronchitis I have which is not responding to antibiotics. The bronchitis is caused by the Advair. She prescribed another med, Spiriva, which is to dry out the congestion in my lungs. Expensive med. Took my first dose and felt immediate relief. Stuff has some side effects as does all the meds I am ingesting. However, on my ride today I felt almost as congested. Either my condition is advancing or the meds are making my condition worse.
So, on my ride, I concocted this plan of riding up Shultz creek trail then picking up the ride Joe led me on, navigation per the GPS. I figured that Schultz creek trail would put me right on the course. Wrong. I bush bashed up a hill side then rode thru the P-pine trees looking for the trail. Once I zoomed out on the Edge I learned the concept was neat but reality was such that I had a long way to bush bash. I jumped back down on Schultz creek continuing up to Schultz tank then picked up a trail that Joe showed me previously. Bingo! I rejoined the route. Shortness of breath on the uphills. Riding between 8 and 7,000′ might be a contributing factor.
I finished my ride back to van. I saw a white pick up parked beside my van. I recognized it as Jason’s formerly of BnB. He left a note on my windshield LOL about how was the northwest. I answered back that I did reach northwest NM. I think he meant further away.
I called Joe after my ortho appointment to aid and abet his playing hookey for a ride. He couldn’t go but offered a shower after my ride. I took him up on the shower. Enjoyed a short visit as he was prepping his Sportsmobile Ford van for his family’s camping trip up to Gooseberry.
So now I am back at same camp spot studying maps and creating plans for where I want to be. I called Craig in Durango to learn conditions there. Awaiting his reply.
Lin Care in Durango has a home monitoring device for my blood clotting. I can either drive up there to pick it up and ride for several days or tell them where to send it per my new plan. Hence, my problem of deciding where I want to be.
Yesterday AM it was 24 degrees. Back to burning the heater.
Going to quit now b4 I kill this computer.
